Setting Up a Conference Call

Setting up a conference call can vary widely from company to company. A lot of it has to do with the conference call services that your company uses. Overall, there are three different types of conference calls and each has its own way of setting it up.

If your company uses the most common type of conference calling, then they use reservationless conference calling. It doesn’t require a lot of set up to use this type of conference call service. To use this type, you get a phone number and an access code. You will also receive a separate access code to give to the people you want to participate in the conference call with you. All you have to do is call the number, enter your access code, and then have your participants call in and enter theirs.

Another type of conference call is the operator assisted set up conference call. This allows you to have an operator there to record the conversation and monitor the conference call. This is a more expensive conference call service and may require you to reserve a call time in advance. The amount of time you have for the call may vary depending on the service you choose.

You may use an operator dialed set up conference call. This will allow for your calling parties to interact more during the conference call. The operator will call each participant at the reserved time and manually add them to the conference. This is the best way to go if you aren’t accustomed to making conference calls.

Web conferencing has become very popular because of the Internet, but they can be much more involved than any other type of conference call and could require a lot of software. You may also require having technical support on hand to deal with any software issues. Or you could simply use three-way calling. This is used through your phone company and may accrue a nominal monthly charge on your phone bill.

Now that you know how to set up a conference call and the different conference call services available, you can make your own conference call. You may need to play around with all the options available to you to find the one that matches your needs the best, but utilizing conference calling can be very beneficial to your business.
